01 Aug HEAF Summer Quest Program
Three weeks ago at Klickrr we started working with the Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) Summer Quest program; a five-week summer enrichment program for middle school students that builds upon and extend skills, habits and attitudes cultivated during the school year. We are excited to teach the Shark Tank Entrepreneurship to rising 7th graders and have covered various topics such as supply chain, the 4 P’s of the marketing mix and profit and loss.
Entrepreneurship is a concept that is not usually taught to middle schoolers, however, with the right educators, objectives and learning activities, it is possible to provide youth with the right framework to develop the insight needed to discover their entrepreneurial spirit. Exposure is key and HEAF has done an AMAZING job with the students for the past 27 years.
When working with school age children, always remember to engage, educate and enlighten. Through conversation, the students’ ideas can be turned into multi-million businesses like Kidpreneuer Mikaila Ulmer who started BeeSweet Lemonade which is now sold in Whole Foods across the United States. This generation of students do not lack in aspirations; however, the scarcity of educational entrepreneurial opportunities is the missing link that doesn’t allow a child to connect to their entrepreneurial spirit. Equipping students with the tools necessary to flourish within our tech-savvy world is key to raising the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders.
